Admission Requirements
Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) Part-Time Degree in French
Candidates wishing to register for the six (6) year programme must have at least five (5) credits, three of which must be in French, English Language, Literature in English and any other two credits at SSCE level or its equivalent which shall not be more than two sittings. They must also have a satisfactory UTME score or as shall be decided by the University.

i) Candidates who apply for the five
year programme must possess at least six points at IJMB or GCE two
(Advanced level) passes or with a minimum of nine points at NCE, plus
three ‘O’ level subjects at credit level. One of the ‘A’ level subjects
must be in French.
ii) Candidates who possess a
Diploma Certificate in French with minimum of Upper Credit recognized by
the University are also eligible. In addition, they are to have three
credits passes at the SSCE, NECO or their equivalents.
iii)
Candidates with equivalent qualification from Francophone Institutions
recognized by the University who possess ‘O’ Level credits in English
and Literature in English are also legible.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) Part-Time Degree in Linguistics
i. A candidate wishing to register for B.A. (Linguistics) programme should possess at least five credits, two of which must be in English Language, Literature in English or Nigerian Languages and any other three credits at the SSCE level or the equivalent.

Literature in English or in French.
v. Candidates
with Diploma Certificate (at least Upper Credit) in a relevant
discipline from a recognized institution shall be admitted into this
degree programme.
Proficiency Certificate in French (PCF)
a.
Candidates who possess a minimum of Secondary School Education with at
least a pass in English Language are eligible. Proficiency Certificate
in Tiv Language.
b. Candidates should possess at
least four (4) credits at the ordinary level, one of which must be in
English Language. An equivalent qualification shall be accepted.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) Part-Time Degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies
The Department shall offer admission in two categories of students:
(a) Those for a UTME (Part-Time) Degree programme and
(b) Those for a DIRECT ENTRY (Part-Time) Degree programme

The Department shall offer admission in two categories of students:
(a) Those for a UTME (Part-Time) Degree programme and
(b) Those for a DIRECT ENTRY (Part-Time) Degree programme
UTME (Part-Time) Degree Programme
Candidates
for this category shall have a minimum entry requirement of Five years
(5) credits including CRS and English Language, the Senior Certificate
Examinations (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) or their
equivalent, which shall not be more than two sittings with a
satisfactory UTME scores as shall be decided by the University. UTME
subjects must also include CRS, English Language and any other two
subjects from the Arts and Social Sciences, candidates are expected to
spend a minimum of six years and maximum of nine years (150% of the
Regular duration).
Direct Entry (Part-Time) Degree Programme
Direct Entry candidates are required to spend a minimum of five (5) years and maximum of seven (7) years (150% of the Regular Direct Entry candidates). In addition, they must possess the following qualifications:

Certificate of Education (NCE) with a minimum of eight (8) points,
Diploma with minimum grade of Upper Credits or IJMB six points plus
three subjects at credit ‘O’ level in SSCE or equivalent including
English Language and General Paper obtained at one sitting.

A three or two-year Diploma in Theology, Philosophy, or Religious
Studies recognized by the University, plus five credits at SSCE ‘O’
level including English Language etc.
Certificate Courses in Library and Information Science
A. Library Assistants (LAC)
Candidates should possess at least one of the following qualifications:-
i. WASC/SSCE with at least two (2) credits including English Language.

B. Senior Library Assistants (SLA)
i. Candidates must be on the rank of library assistant and must have been confirmed on the job.

or a pass in the Library Assistants’ comprehensive examination.

Candidates who attain the gained position of Library Assistant through

examination must spend one year before registration, while others with
ordinary pass will have to spend two years before registering.
iv. Candidates must have been strongly recommended by his/her Head of section

C. Assistant Library Officers’ Programme (ALO)
i. Candidate must have been on the rank of Senior Library Assistant for a period not less than 2 years on the job.

The Part-time Degree Programme in B.A French, Linguistics, Philosophy and Religious Studies, is to run for a minimum of six years (12 Semesters) and maximum of eight years (16 Semesters) for UTME candidates and five years (10 Semesters) and maximum of seven years (14 Semesters) for those who will come in through Direct Entry (DE).

The programmes are categorized into three levels and each level is for a duration of two (2) semester.

Candidates
for admission into the Part-Time degree programme in Mass Communication
should possess five (5) credits in Senior Secondary School Certificate

The Department shall offer admission to two (2) categories of students; those for UTME (Part-Time) those for Direct Entry (Part-Time).

Candidates
for this category, shall have Senior Secondary School Certificate or
General Certificate of Education or their equivalents, with at least
five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and
two (2) other subjects which should include either Government or
History.

Candidates

How to Apply for BSUM Part-Time Degree Admission.
Sales of application forms shall commence by Wednesday, 8th March, 2017.
i. Applicants are to visit the Benue State University website www.bsum.edu.ng
(under applications on Benue State University Portal Section) click on
Centre for Continuing Education and complete some pre-registration
information and submit a copy of pre-registration form.
ii.
Applicants would then proceed to the designated bank (Fidelity) with
the printed copy of pre-registration form and pay a non-refundable
application fee of Five thousand naira (N 5,000.00) using the generated
application number.
iii. After payments applicants
would be expected to revisit the Benue State University Portal under
Application and click on Centre for Continuing Education to complete the
Application form and submit. Please, print two hard copies of the
completed form for reference purposes.
With effect from Wednesday, 8th March, 2017 Application forms would be generated through the University Portal.
Completed
application forms must be returned with photocopies of relevant
certificates and credentials, to the office of the Secretary, Centre for
Continuing Education not later than two weeks after purchase.
