Ubi Franklin definitely knows what he and his brand, MMMG Entertainment has to offer and we all know what it is like to be signed to one of the top Record Labels in the country.
With the record of splits and messy breakups that trail Nigerian record
labels and artistes, the manager is assured that he would not be falling
victim.
As it would be recalled, one of his signees, Augustine Miles Kelechi aka Tekno, flew to New York earlier in the year to sign an international deal with the giant Sony Music.
The deal was reportedly worth $4m, but both parties have repeatedly refused to speak on the details of the deal.
Speaking on his plans to safe guard his relationship with the artiste, Franklin told Sunday Scoop,
“I
read the contract properly. It took me about seven weeks to go through
the contract with my lawyers; internationally and locally. I had to
expunge some things and also include some clauses. There is nothing to
worry about. In music business, there are times when you would never be
happy and there are times when you would be happy so you have to mix and
manage both.
"Tekno’s rise is
simply as a result of hard work, prayers, and perseverance. Some people
pray and they don’t work hard but if you pray and work hard, it will
happen for you.”
Addressing the perceived beef between himself and former partner, Iyanya, Franklin said, “I
didn’t split from Iyanya. Maybe you should ask him what happened
between us. Once a contract is over, you can go if you want to; nobody
will prevent you from doing so. There is no bad blood between Iyanya and
me; he is my brother for life.”
The father-of-one also hinted that he has plans to venture into the movie industry.
“I
am actually doing a lot of TV and movie productions right now. They
wouldn’t necessarily feature my wife, though; it depends on who fits the
role. Meanwhile, I just signed three new artistes and I would be
unveiling them soon,” he said.
The "Pana" singer was unveiled as a Pepsi brand ambassador on Friday, March 31, 2017.
