Man defiles 10-year-old girl, insists she begged for it

A 27-year-old man, David Charles, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.
Charles, a father of three children, pleaded not guilty to a one count of defilement.

According to the police prosecutor, Simeon Imhonwa, the accused committed the alleged offence on April 24 at No. Aina Street, Shogunle, Oshodi, Lagos.
Imhonwa told the court that Charles did unlawfully defile the victim and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
In his confessional statement, Charles said that he didn’t penetrate the little girl, but only caressed her vagina with his fingers.

He said that the little girl requested to watch pornography when she came into his room to collect a chilled sachet water from his fridge.
He recounted: “The incident happened sometime in April when a neighbour’s 10 years old daughter, came into my room at noon to collect cold water from my fridge. When she came in, she sat on my chair and instead of collecting the sachet water, requested to watch sex movies on my phone.

I replied that it was not good for her. She looked into my eyes and immediately held my hand and I cuddled her.
“I didn’t have sex with her either with my manhood or finger. I only touched her vagina while her pant was still on and I never removed her pants. Now, she’s lying against me.”

The victim’s elder sister, simply identified as Ada, who reported the matter to the Lagos State Police Command Ikeja, accused Charles of defiling her sister four times in his room.
Ada, in her statement to the police, said she observed an alarming unusual enlargement of her younger sister’s private part when she was bathing her.

She said: “I discovered my sister had been deflowered when I noticed her private had enlarged more than usual. When I questioned her, she opened up that Charles had sexual intercourse with her four times inside his room and used his hands to cover her mouth while penetrating her vagina. My sister told me that she couldn’t tell anybody because Charles warned her not to disclose it. She also told me that he usually sleeps with her whenever our mother tells her to go and collect sachet water from his room.”
