By Adeboye Amosu: Ahead of Friday’s draw ceremony for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, former Nigeria winger Tijani Babangida hopes to see the country paired in the same group with former world champions Argentina, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles have been paired in the same group with the Albiceleste in four of their five previous appearances at the global fiesta and lost all four games.
They however recorded a morale boosting 4-2 win against Jorge Sampaoli’s men in a friendly encounter last month.
However, despite the team’s poor record against the South Americans, Babangida want to see the Super Eagles in the same group with the Argentines.
“It will be nice for us to be in the same group with Argentina again,” the former Ajax Amsterdam star told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We have been placed in the same group with them since our first appearance in 1994 in the United States of America except in France 1998.
“They have also defeated us in all the four games and it will be nice to have our revenge this time around.”
