[Gaposa News]: Sympathisers besiege Tinubu’s house over son’s death


LAGOS—SCORES of sympathisers thronged the residence of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Bola Tinubu, to pay their condolences over the loss of his first son, Mr Jide Tinubu. Meantime, the bereaved, Senator Bola Tinubu, yesterday, left Lagos for London, to see his late son’s wife and children who reside in the United Kingdom. 

Tinubu was said to have departed Lagos barely 48 hours after Jide was pronounced dead by doctors at the Lagos Island General Hospital. It was gathered that his departure to London was an apparent strategy to avoid hundreds of  APC stalwarts  and other personalities that have  turned his Bourdillon home, Lagos to a Mecca of sort, after news filtered in that his first son had passed away. 

When GAPOSAOLOFOFO visited his home yesterday, it was gathered that his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, who is the chairman, Senate committee on Environment, had also left home, but her destination was not disclosed. Among the early callers yesterday were Tinubu’s political associates, businessmen and women, religious leaders, neighbours, friends and family members among others. 

A chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who described the demise of Jide as a big loss urged Tinubu to take heart. “This is a serious matter; a lot of hope has been dashed. It is not an easy thing. Only God can console the family,” he said. The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke, said in the condolence register “it is with a great shock I received the news.”

 A childhood friend of Tinubu, Alhaji Akeem Danmola, said that “may God never allow this kind of death to happen again to Asiwaju, it is too painful.” A Lagos lawmaker, who was one of the early callers, Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, described the death of Jide as “a loss too painful”. 

“It is not a pleasant moment for any of us close to Asiwaju, to Lagos State and entire Nigerians. It is very sad. Nobody will wish his enemy to lose a child. “For the father and mother to have lost their child is very painful, but we have to keep glorifying God,” Yishawu stated. During the condolence visit, of Alhaji Lawal Animashaun, the APC Divisional Chairman in Ikorodu, urged Tinubu to take heart. Animashaun said: “It is very painful but Asiwaju has to take heart.

 Nobody will like to bury his child but we cannot query the Almighty God.” Other sympathisers include: Elder Tayo Soyode, father-in-law of the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, league of Imams, members of Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan and Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, Lagos State Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW. Others are Mr Femi Falana SAN, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, delegates from Ondo State Government led by Mr Ifedayo Abogunde, the Secretary to the State Government among others. 

The sympathisers were received by Mr Demola Oshodi, Personal Assistant to the APC national leader,on behalf of Tinubu. It was however disclosed that Tinubu travelled out of the country yesterday morning. Tinubu son’s death sad, shocking – PDP Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the death of Jide, son of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as sad, shocking and very painful. 

Mr Dayo Adeyeye, the Publicity Secretary of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, stated this in a condolence message yesterday, in Abuja. “We believe that the Almighty God knows the best and understands the circumstances surrounding his sudden departure from us,” the party stated 

Oshiomhole describes Jide Tinubu’s death as shocking The Immediate  past governor of  Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole described  the death, as shocking, the death of the first son of the national leader of the Congress of All Progressives, APC, Mr. Jide Tinubu. In a statement personally signed by comrade Oshiomhole, he said:

 “I have personally experienced it as a very empathetic leader, always available to sympathize and share the grief of all who meet the misfortune.” Therefore, it is very sad that your family has to go through the pain of losing a beloved child, especially at the best time of your life.

 “Once again my leader, (Ahmed Bola Tinubu) is sure that we share with you and your family the pain of this difficult moment,” he declared. Senate, Mark commiserate Also, the Senate has described the death of Mr. Jide Tinubu, son of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after a brief illness on Wednesday as an unfortunate incident

. In a statement personally signed yesterday by the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Senate expressed sadness over the death of Jide Tinubu. Meanwhile, former Senate President, Senator David Mark has sent message of condolence to All Peoples Congress (APC) chieftain, Senator Bola Tinubu and former Governor of Gombe state Senator Danjuma Goje over the demise of their loved ones. Ngige too condoles Tinubu Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige has expressed shock over the tragic passing on of Jide, the son of the former Governor of Lagos State and leader of  the All Progressives Congress , APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The Minister in a condolence letter through Nwachukwu Obidiwe, his Special Assistant, Media, said:

  “Jide had a bright future and was amiable to those who knew and came in contact with him. His death is our collective loss. I am distraught and can only imagine the agony our dear Asiwaju and family have been thrown into.’’
