•Winner to get brand new car, cash prize
The second edition of Miss Port Harcourt city beauty pageant is set to hold on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at L.A Dome, Stadium Road Port Harcourt (inside L.A kings), Rivers State.
The pageant which debuted last year has its theme for this year tagged “Heritage Edition” which will tilt towards the indigenous lifestyle of Port Harcourt people and draw inspiration from her ancestry,
“This edition will see an extravagant display of the rich culture of the Rivers State people” said Anita May Igoni, founder Miss Port Harcourt city.
Eighteen of the 23 contestants who made it to the state auditions arrived camp on Tuesday for the finals.
“We are in search of that quintessential Port Harcourt lady, one who has the charisma and poise to serve as the queen of the city of Port Harcourt, one who will finally be moulds to be a quintessential woman.”
The winner of the grand prize would get a crown, an official car and N300, 000 while other winners would get endorsements, prize monies and other opportunities.
Igoni listed the judges to include Kalanne Ebiye Koripamo (founder Kayge cosmetics), Loveth Ogedegbe (publisher Orange Magazine ltd), Samuel Elendu (head designer Sammielle Couture), Mide Ajayi (Editor in chief Superbold Magazine) and Sew George (head designer SewGeorge).
On why she came up with the pageant, Igoni, who is an ex-beauty queen (Miss Tourism Nigeria) 2015 planet, said, “the idea of what Miss Port Harcourt is today conceived by me as my pet project during my reign as the Miss Tourism Nigeria 2015 (planet). My then manager, Teinye Boyle, and I, have worked tirelessly to make this idea a reality. We are indeed grateful that the ‘pet project’ which was meant to be a onetime thing is now an household name and is having another edition.
“A pet project to empower young Rivers State girls to blossom against stigma of societal ills that trail her, we hope to correct the impression with our pageant and post pageant activities.”
She further added that The Quintessential Ladies of Port Harcourt City Awards (QLOPHA17) which is geared towards celebrating quintessential women in the city will hold during the event.
“It is a female-only award ceremony that honors and celebrates Rivers State women or those whose cause, businesses and projects are domiciled in the city of Port Harcourt, these women are seen to be leading their sectors. The QLOPHA has come to stay and will be an infused ceremony which will be held mid-way our annual pageant.”
