Lagos State wrestlers made their presence felt at the ongoing Governor Wike Wrestling Challenge Cup holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by winning 6 gold, one silver and 3 bronze medals in the Juniors Category, SportingLife reports.
The Junior Category (18-20 years) featured all the three styles (Greco Roman, Female wrestling and Men’s Freestyle).
Sati Dawon (130kg), Adekunle Julius (63kg), Olubode Fayowole (60kg) and Adebowo Segun (55kg) won gold in the Junior Greco-Roman, while Comfort Stephen (57kg) and Adeyanju Bukola (68kg) won their gold medals in the Junior Female Wrestling. Keke Yanyangbini won silver in the 65kg Junior Female Wrestling, while Sandra Ofuani (62kg) won the silver medal in that category.
SportingLife reports that Bayelsa State came second in the Junior class with 5 gold, 6 silver and 9bronze medals, while host Rivers are third with 4 gold 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Ondo State maintained its lead on the overall medals table with 8 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals.
At the time of filing in this report, Bayelsa State occupiers the 2nd position with 7 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals, while Lagos took over the 3rd position with the 6 gold, one silver and 3 bronze medals.
Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries wrestling team are 4th on the log with 5 gold, one silver and one bronze, while host Rivers are in 5th position with 4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals.
At the time of filling-in the reports, actions are still ongoing in the Senior Greco-Roman at the the Indoor Sports Hall of the Alfred Diette-Spiff Civic Center in Port Harcourt.
