Tinubu jets out to London to mourn his son

Less than 48 hours after the death of his first son, Jide, the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, yesterday left Lagos for London in United Kingdom to privately mourn his son and meet the deceased’s nuclear family. Jide Tinubu, whose death became public on Wednesday, reportedly slumped and was pronounced dead by medical doctors at the Lagos Island General Hospital. New Telegraph gathered from multiples sources that Tinubu, after attending to a few early visitors at his Bourdillon residence at Ikoyi in Lagos, jetted out yesterday afternoon to the United Kingdom with his wife, Oluremi and some Islamic clerics to meet his late son’s wife and children, who reside in the United Kingdom.
The decision of Tinubu to travel to London with his wife was believed to be a deliberate plan by the APC national leader to avoid thousands of APC chieftains and his supporters, who had started trooping to his residence since Wednesday evening, shortly after Jide’s death was made public.
“Tinubu has travelled out of the country. He went to United Kingdom with some Islamic clerics, who will stay with him for a period of time to pray with him,” a source told New Telegraph yesterday during a visit to Tinubu’s residence. Confirming the departure of his principal to London, Tinubu’s Personal Assistant, Ademola Oshodi, who received visitors and sympathisers, who visited to commiserate with the APC national leader, disclosed that Tinubu travelled to see the deceased’s family in London. Meanwhile, sympathisers have continued trooping to the APC national leader’s residence to mourn with him.
As early as 9am, some sympathisers turned Tinubu’s residence to Mecca of sort as they stated trooping in individually and in groups to sign the condolence register placed at the entrance of the main entrance of the house. Some of those who visited Bourdillion yesterday were Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State; Oba of Lagos, His Royal Highness, Oba Rilwan Akiolu; delegates from Ondo State led by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde; Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Opeyemi Oke; Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; Elder Tayo Soyode, the father of wife of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and constitutional lawyer and human right activist, Mr. Femi Falana.
